About Heroes Serve
Heroes Serve exists for one reason: too many people who serve us go unrecognized. The firefighter who pulled a stranger out of a burning building. The nurse who stayed past her shift. The neighbor who shoveled your walk before sunrise. The veteran who answered a call most of us will never have to take.
We're a community magazine about the people who serve. Anyone with an account can submit a story honoring someone in their life. Submissions require an administrator’s approval before publication.
We believe recognition matters. It tells the people who quietly hold the world together that we see them — and it tells the rest of us who we want to become.
Who we honor
First responders. Firefighters, police officers, paramedics, dispatchers. The people who run toward danger.
Military and veterans. Active duty and those who served. The names on memorials and the names you'll never know.
Healthcare workers. Nurses, doctors, EMTs, caregivers, hospital staff. The people who hold our hands at the hardest moments.
Everyday unsung heroes. Teachers, neighbors, volunteers, mentors, friends. Quiet courage in plain clothes.
Recognition with respect.
- Be specific and accurate. Describe what happened, how you know, and the difference it made. Avoid exaggerated or unsupported claims.
- Put the person first. Get permission before sharing their story or photograph. Leave out private addresses, medical details, and sensitive service information.
- Let people choose what to share. Recognition does not require retelling trauma, combat, or a difficult experience.
- Examples are not reporting. Sample stories use licensed photographs of real people for illustration. The people pictured are not the named subjects, and sample profiles should not be mistaken for verified reporting.
